Snow in San Angelo

We woke very early (and VERY excited) to the most beautiful snow falling in San Angelo. Snow in San Angelo..that's right. We couldn't believe it. Katie woke up first and I was so thrilled to be able to take her to the window and show her snow. It was snowing the day she was born, but I think this was the first real snow she remembered and she was almost as excited as her momma to see snow. Her first comment when seeing it in the yard was "We can't walk on it, can we." Oh yes baby....we will walk on it, run on it, throw it, and have fun in it. The kids were bundled up and in the yard before 8am.

Dad was such a good sport to get bundled up and get right in the middle of it while mom took pics from the warmth of the house. Snow, hot chocolate, a late breakfast and just all around fun family time!! Thank you Lord for the snow and the reminder that your Son's blood washes us white as snow. (And yes I did attribute three posts to the snow..that is how rare snow in San Angelo is)

Fun in the Snow

I caught some good pics of the girls with my new camera I got for my birthday...One of the things I love most about Kyra is that while growing and maturing into a beautiful young lady, she is still a little girl who loves life inside. This is her catching snow on her tongue. And I love this "bundle of joy" picture. She was having a BLAST!!! Katie squatting to ask Dad "Whatcha doing?" While I am yelling "Run" as he makes a snowball with her name on it.

More Snow Pics

I cannot tell you how much they enjoyed the snow. It just did not last near long enough... David busted out the boogey board thinking we could use it like a sled...not near enough snow buddy. :-) Oh and our mega snowman..he is really about the size of a glass of tea. :-)

Study of Ants

David and I were studying insects one week and we came to ants. We learned from the bible in Proverbs 6:6-7"Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise; Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest." We can learn so much from God' s creation of the order of things. I use this verse often with my kids in reminding them we are to be diligent and that also we do not need someone standing "boss" over us all the time.

So the fun part of the lesson was making "antennae" headbands.

Thanksgiving

Okay it is a little weird to blog about Thanksgiving on Christmas Eve, but hey when you have time and it is quiet..you do what you can. We had the opportunity to spend several days in Carlsbad over Thanksgiving. I got to hang out with my friend Robin and received the COOLEST birthday gift. She filled out this whole book with memories that made me laugh, cry and some get back on my knees and thank the Lord for His mercy and forgiveness.

We also got to spend some time getting to know my great-niece Rynlee much better and she is just the cutest thing. And of course the kids got to fish...which is always a fun treat.

As I reflect over the past year...we have so much to be thankful for. This has been a 'different' year with lots of changes with the church, me being pregnant..but God has been so good and so faithful to us. We have so much to be thankful for as we consider the preservation of His Word, His mercy in saving us, us living in a country where I have the choice to homeschool my children, Rody and I both having jobs. Thank you Lord for all you do for us.

More Family, More Food...More to Be Thankful For

We continued the festivities in Roswell spending time with Rody's family. We picked Grandma Chick up on the way and it was a lot of fun to get to spend time with her. She is the most amazing woman who at 85+ still plays with the kids and is sharp as a tack. She has a gentle, quiet spirit that just exudes kindness. We are thankful for Grandma Chick (especially me since I don't get to be around my grandparents much, I am thankful she has welcomed me to the family). The kids LOVE getting to play with Carson & Spencer and just being on the ranch...digging in the dirt, riding bikes, bouncing around in the pick-up, hunting coyotes...they dig the country. It was a fun time of hanging out with the family and of course YUMMY food. We are so thankful for our families.

She's So Cute

I loved these pics of Katie. She is a such a cutie pie and keeps our family in stitches (or wanting to pull our hair out). She is definitely a very articulate and dramatic little story teller and we are curious how she will handle no longer being the "baby" of the family. I think she will do much better in her role as "big sister" since she has the bossing thing down very well. She is also very smart...while questioning David on some of his kindergarten lessons, little sister was more than eager to provide the accurate answer. Thank you Lord for these blessings in our life.

Back In Time

Our family had the opportunity to celebrate a very special birthday by going back in time to an old fashioned baseball game. Some friends from church play on the Ft. Concho baseball team. The party consisted of a ballgame following rules from the time era..but I loved their outfits. This is Jacoby..one of David's big buddies from church.

Another Fun Park Day

Look out... 3 posts in one day. The world just might come to an end. :-) You can tell I am feeling better b/c the "wit" has returned. We got to share another very special park day this fall when a dear friend from Grady and her little girl were in town for a visit. We are very lucky that her mom lives about 15 miles from San Angelo so we get to see them more often.

Mindy had Ella 3 months before I had Katie and so we got to be pregnant together and rejoice over the birth of each other's children. It was so fun to see them together and how quickly they became great friends. I loved seeing these little blondies together and just wish they could know each other better (which of course would mean I would get to spend more time with Mindy). Mindy and I got to enjoy a fun afternoon of talking about what God was doing in our lives and just laughing and sharing "mom" time. Thank you Lord for friends.

Road Trip to See Paw Paw

We had to meet Paw Paw outside of Sterling and here is a pic of Katie and her Paw Paw. Nana graciously sent a whole bag of goodies that kept them busy and on a sugar high for the trip home. My kids love their Paw Paw. At Thanksgiving I got to see Katie crawl up in Paw Paw's lap as he showed her pictures and told her stories. I think he gets this from his Granny. My dad loves to tell stories and there are some really good ones if you will sit and listen. I love to hear about him growing up and "how things used to be". How all the family got together on Sunday over at Granny's after church for lunch. Then one of the uncles would take the boys hunting, fishing or a play a game of baseball. Or to hear about his Granny cooking. I hope in my blogging that it is my way of "storytelling" to my kids and their kids.

Park Day with Church Friends

Back in October, we had some really nice "fall" days. So we took advantage of the warm weather and met friends from church for a picnic at the park. We are blessed with a church family filled with lots of young children. The kids love getting to be with their friends and I enjoy the fellowship with the moms as we "sharpen one another" to become better mothers, wives, teachers and daughters of the King!!

One of the things I love about putting together our Christmas card is looking through the pictures of the year and remembering all the great times we have had. We are so blessed as a family. I think this summer goes on the record books for all time fun and I promise to post our "snow" pictures. I just go back and forth between two computers and try not to do too much online on my laptop. I cannot believe how much the kids have grown and changed.

Fun in Dallas

Okay you can tell I have not blogged in a while ... I really wish I could type all these in and then arrange them in the order I want them... :-)

One cool thing the kids loved at the zoo was this cage with tons of parakeets. They got these sticks with bird seed and fed the birds. The colors of the birds were extraordinary. I also loved this picture of David and Kyra as it accurately depicts their passions. David looks like the mighty hunter ready to kill something and Kyra the sympathetic, animal lover ready to rescue animals.

Here is MY Superman and Batmen...the kids dressed up for Ashley & Corbin's wedding. Oh and did I mention in Dallas we found a Lego store in the mall!!! Woo-Hoo

Ft. Worth Zoo

In October, we made a trip to Ft. Worth for a friend of the family's wedding. We went a day early to go to the zoo (Katie has been asking to go to a zoo for months). So we spent the day and the kids did great. They had a blast!! David loved these HUGE goldfish they had and the crocidile that did not move.

We watched the orangatangs (sp) forever. This one was playing peek-a-boo and another got a leaf and then went down to the water/stream and would dip the leaf in the water and drink. He then got a gunny sack and put it over him and hung the top from a cedar post and had a hammock. Then this little meerkat was just chillin. Then the white tiger was really cool. He came over to the window where we were and just like a cat would rub up against the glass. He was sooo amazingly beautiful.

The Promise

SNOW

We woke this morning to a beautiful, white blanket of snow. I was just like a kid all giddy and excited. I couldn't wait for the kids to wake up. Katie awoke first and I took her to the window. She said "Well we can't walk on it." In her mind it was too pretty and foreign for us to walk on...I imagine we'll react the same way when we see the streets of gold "We can't walk on them"! Then she could see it falling and noticed it on the cars. She got really excited. Then Kyra, knowing what snow is from her years in Grady said "Can we play in it?" Of course it was still dark.
I've decided all though I prefer my blog in chronological order, I am going to just have to catch up....

I Promise to Catch Up On Posts

Okay anyone who visited our blog, probably no longer does since I NEVER update. Well we are at 15 weeks (check ups have been good) and so I am beginning to feel human again. As soon as I finish a massive report for work, I PROMISE to catch up on Oct & Nov.
Right now I am laughing as Katie keeps running up to me and says "I have a surprise for you!!!" with glowing eyes and then pulls one of her plastic animals out of her shirt. She LOVES giving surprises.
So please don't give up on me. I have cute pics of our trip to the zoo, Thanksgiving and much more!!

Great Day

What a perfect fall day...it was cool but beautiful and then really warmed up nice. Slept in...hung out with the family...got a nap (can you tell sleep is of utmost important right now?) Cooked a pot of green chili corn chowder...and then get this. You might have the VERY best husband in the world if he goes and gets you movie popcorn and pickles. Yum, Yum!!!! Oh and the leaves are starting to change too. Fall is truly here.

New Addition to Chesser Home

Okay and now the REAL reason I have not been blogging lately...the Chesser home is expanding and our new blessing is due May 26th. As a result, mom has spent A LOT of time not waking up until I absolutely have to and laying on the couch in the evening trying to curb the major desire to throw up! Love morning, noon and evening sickness. The kids are SOOOO excited! So please keep us in your prayers for a healthy mom & baby!! I'll keep you posted.

Finished Room

Well sadly Nana has to go home tomorrow but she leaves having completed the girls room and organizing my garage...what do we do without moms? I totally appreciate and am thankful for mine.
