In San Angelo

It's almost bed-time and we are settling in at the Hillcrest Baptist Church mission house. It is such a blessing to have a place to stay until God leads us to the house he has for us. We have had a crazy few weeks and we are looking forward to a slow day tomorrow. The kids are doing well as they begin an exciting new chapter in our lives. We love you all and pray that you are fully aware of God's leadership in your life. -R

Good Byes Are Hard

It has been a tough week as we have met with and said good bye to our church family and our friends. For the last 11 years the Clovis-Grady area has been home. But what a great time of rejoicing in the Lord and remembering all that He has done! We've seen friends come to Christ, babies born, people grow in their love of Christ, knowledge of His Word and a desire to serve Him. We've shared broken hearts as ones we've loved have gone before us to be with our King! Rody and I have shared HOW much we have grown here. God has been faithful and grown us as we've sought Him! At the same time we look ahead to what God is going to do next. What an adventure--whoever said being a follower of Christ was boring...well they just don't know what they are missing.

South Africa

Ok, here is a good pic of the plate! Tripe, chicken feet, spinich, some sort of unidentified stuff, bread and one more scoop of unidentified stuff. We prayed as we ate, "Lord, I'll get it down if you will keep it down!"

We had some incredible opportunities in South Africa. Here is a pic of me preaching the gospel at Kliptown Secondary School. This school has a high percentage of Muslim students and a muslim principle that loves for TSEA to come and preach to his students! God is good. Please pray about going with us on a mission trip this next year.

Packing - What a fun time

What an incredible rush of emotions as I pack up the house that God has blessed us in over the last 7 years. My babies were born here--2 learned to walk, talk and 1 to read here. We've had great family time and times of growth here and now like Abraham..we go where He leads us!

By the way, I want to publically thank my mother who worked tirelessly last week packing, changing dirty diapers, playing with kids and putting up with me. We had a great time and I am blessed to have such a giving, hard working mother. Thank you mom!!

By the way--for those of you who know Rody well will laugh...a great friend sent out movers to help us pack today and imagine this...we ran out of boxes when packing Rody's office.

Countdown is On!!

As I'm trying to catch up this blog is kind of random right now. So please excuse the craziness--but that is just our life right now! For those that may not know..we are moving at the end of this week (8/31/07) to San Angelo, Texas where Rody has been called to pastor Hillcrest Baptist Church. So the last couple of weeks have been very busy with packing, boxes, tape and a bunch of other fun things like cleaning!!

Rody made it home safely from Africa and had a great trip. God continues to do amazing things as they minister there. Please pray for a country that is hurting and in desparate need of Christ. Even bigger prayer request now is Pakistan. David Burke is planning to go back this fall/winter and Rody may be going with him. The prayer request is for an election coming up there. There is a possibilty that based on whoever is elected that the borders will close--pray for God to keep the borders open and for the gospel to thrive there.

Okay have to get back to work, work and then more packing!! :-)

Back in Time - Memorial Day

As I mentioned earlier, I am going back and updating our blog for the summer. Our family had a great time on Memorial Day just hanging out and going to the kid's favorite park. They love this park because there is a bar you hold on to and then it slides to the other side. They are growing up so fast...

Africa Update

The team made it to Africa safely and have settle in. I spoke to Rody this morning before church and they had been to church there this morning. He said all was going well and that they had an "interesting" lunch. When I asked what that meant he said they had boiled chicken's feet, trite (cow's stomach), spinach and well after that he couldn't remember. :-)

For those of you going "See I will NEVER go to Africa" let me compare that to my trip. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at a VERY Americanized restaurant and the food was great!

Please keep praying for them as they begin sharing and preparing for the outreach events every night.

They're Off!!

Well the team is on the beginning of their LONG trek to South Africa. Rody and Corbin left Clovis around 9:00pm last night and drove all night to Dallas. I got a text around 3am that they were there and going to get a couple hours of sleep. They ran into a bump in Dallas when Corbin's name on his ticket didn't match his passport. But God is bigger than the Homeland Security and when He has called some to follow Him and serve...there's no stopping them! Keep praying! This is the long part for them. Pray for opportunities to share Jesus while traveling, for fellowship and the sharpening of one another!

June milestones for Katie--6/2 Rolled from back to left side. This kid LOVES to be outside (especially if Kyra and David are running around). Oh and Kyra learned to ride her bike with training wheels. Rody and I tried and tried to teach her and in about 10 mins Jennifer Franklin had her going. At 4 mos Katie was weighing 13lbs. She got to eat cereal and visit with the grandparents! She has the sweetest smile you have ever seen and her eyes are as blue as the sky. She is such a sweet girl! We are blessed.

Birthdays!!

Next on our fun summer list was birthdays...2 of them! Kyra turned 6 on June 17th and David turned 3 on June 14th! It was a BIG event as Kyra typically starts planning for the next birthday before we've had the current one. We had a big time--"Cars" for David and a "Horse" theme for Kyra.

I don't know about you but there are times I sit back and look at my kids and go "Wow"!! I can't believe I'm a mom and that God has entrusted me with such special gifts! Our children know how to live life and enjoy every little thing and I pray I can learn that from them! They have so much joy and innocence. No wonder Jesus said "Let the little children come to me".

Summer Catch Up

The woman takes over!! As we hit the middle of August I realized we have let the blog slip. So I have taken over (okay am assisting) with updating the blog! I will first use it to catch up so you may have to do a lot of scrolling as I go all the way back to June! Our summer has been great! Crazy but great! As you may or may not know, we will be moving the end of August. So I plan to use the blog to keep up with everyone and keep you updated as we will be running like crazy the next few weeks!

Prayer Requests-- Rody leaves for Africa tonight so please be praying for him and the team. He will return 8/25 (one week before we move); Our current and future church; My children and their transition; That I would use this time to lean completely on the Lord to get all done that needs to be done!

Here was the beginning of our summer.. VBS!! The kids had a great time and our church had an incredible opportunity to love on others in the community and share Christ.
