Teddy Bear Day

We have been studying about bears for the last week or so in school--polar bears, honey bears (sloth bears actually), koala bears, brown bears--all kinds of bears. Today was Teddy Bear day where we brought our bears and they were judged. Kyra showed kindness when she shared w/ David b/c he didn't really have any bears (but she had PLENTY). The bears were awarded--some were brave b/c they kept Kyra and David safe at night, one was from Hawaii so it won the longest travel award, one won the good friend award, one was a great dancer and another one won an award because he "walks with me and talks with me" (this is what David said).

Snow in Roswell

(I've posted several new pics and updates so keep scrolling) Here is the beautiful snow we got to see. At this point it had snowed 7" in Roswell and they ended up getting a foot. You know when you see a beautiful snow covered landscape it reminds me of how Christ says He will wash us white as snow. The ugliest things look beautiful when a fresh, white blanket of snow covers it. Thank you Lord that you sent your Son, to cover my ugly sin with His precious blood that makes me white as snow.

Big Rigs @ Granddads

All the cousins got to ride on the bulldozer with Granddad. What a great time they had playing with their cousins, feeding the horses, and throwing snowballs. We are so blessed to have families where our kids learn so much.

Katie Checking Out the Christmas Tree

One of the best parts of parenting is experiencing things for the "first time" through the eyes of your child. Here is Katie checking out the Christmas tree. Oh a funny David story. We were sitting at the table eating last night and he said "Can you imagination that I can eat all of this." Nope...we could not imagination. :-) He's talking to me as a type about how Kyra cannot go to men's "brethast"or it wouldn't be a men's "brethast". David is all about guy things and NO GIRLS!! Mom likes that right now. Oh and a pic of the "stuffed turkey" haha!!!

Thanksgiving in Carlsbad

We had a great Thanksgiving in Carlsbad! Rody and I are both blessed with mommas that cook REALLY well! I got to see ALL my nieces so that was wonderful! It snowed the prettiest snow on Thanksgiving morning! Here are pics for all my Texas friends.

Update

Hey there--sorry I haven't been online in a while. The last two weeks have been insane. And I'm quickly learning I like quiet and lots of time at home or I just run in circles. In the last two weeks we have driven to Brownfield to drop kids off, back to San Angelo, to Arlington, to Carlsbad to pick kids up. Then had revival with David Burk Sat-Tues. Then we left on Wed for Carlsbad, Roswell on Thursday and back to San Angelo on Saturday. Whew--I don't want to pack a bag for a little while.

Happy Thanksgiving

Hello All! We want to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving! We pray you are able to spend the day with friends and family and remember all that we have to be thankful for. We are thankful that we live in a country where we have the freedom to worship without fear of persecution, we are thankful for our family, thankful for our health, thankful for our home and food that the Lord provides, we are thankful for TURKEY and DESSERT!!!!

Well here is a picture of the princess waving. She LOVES to wave! We still are not walking yet but we can keep up with brother and sister in her walker. She loves to walk in the driveway b/c it slopes at the end and she goes really fast!

Convention Update

Well we had a great time at the convention and it was great to get to spend 2 days soaking in God's word!! Highlights for me (Wendy) were Lisa Whelchel who spoke at a ladies luncheon (she is also a home schooling pastor's wife) and she spoke to my heart as she shared how she is not the perfect mom but desires to turn her kid's hearts to the Lord! There were several great expositors of the Word! We laughed with Dennis Swanburg (he's a hoot). Laughter is good medicine! We also enjoyed time fellowshipping with friends--see our pics from the Rain Forest Cafe!!! And yes I did get to shop! God is good!

More Funny David Stories

Don't you just love it when God is kind enough to let you hear your parenting through the innocent voice of your children. The other day I was working and David had asked me for milk. Me being the ever-so attentive mother told him at least 50 times (okay it was more like 10 times) "In just a minute sweetie." Finally he came with hands on hips and said "How many times do I have to tell you." I just rolled in the floor laughing, grabbed his sweet little face, kissed him (of course all he wanted was milk--not mom's affection) and I went and got his milk.

Too Cool!

You know there are some things that are just way to cool. First of all, I'm postin gthis as we drive down the Interstate thanks to a wireless card in my laptop.
Update from the ranch--Kyra and David just called their daddy to sing Happy Birthday and let them know they were watching a fox there at the ranch! They were so excited. Please be praying for Rody's mom Connie. My kids who were all sick last week were kind enough to pass their bugs onto Granny who was sick all last night. I feel TERRIBLE!!!

Missing My Kiddos

Well the Chesser kids are all (yes ALL--even Ms. Katie) at the ranch! And mom is missing them something awful--although I will say I did enjoy my 9 full hours of sleep last night and having picked everything up and it still being there. :-) But you know I got to thinking last night. Whether it be our church or our home...the bible says (don't ask me where I've heard Rody quote it) that "where there is no oxen, the stable is clean". When we have kids--be it at home or in our children's department at church--or even adults -- where there is LIFE there are messes Praise Jesus I get to and am physically capable of picking up toys, socks, cleaning up after those I love!!

I'll update you with stories from the Ranch as I get them. They are having a BIG time I'm sure. They couldn't wait to go! Poor David had the flu bug (he was the final one to get it) on Friday and every time after he'd throw up he'd say "Can we go to Granny's now?" :-D

Out of the Mouth of Babes

The other day David made a profound statement while we were in the bathroom (why is that all deep conversations happen in the bathroom?) Anyway, I was giving him a hard time about why he always calls mom when he is in the bathroom. He grabbed my face and said "Mom you are the bible and I read you!" Wow!! Out of the mouth of babes God reminds us as parents and adults that we have such a LARGE responsibility to point our children to Jesus. I was reading in John how Jesus is the gate--we need to show them, teach them and lead them to the gate that not only leads to eternal life but true Life here on earth. I then think of Jesus' words when He says "It would be better to have a millstone tied to our neck and be thrown into the sea than to cause one of these to stumble." Oh my prayer Lord is that my sinfulness and flesh would not cause my children to stumble or be a hindrance to their relationship with you!

Rut Row

Scooby invaded our house and was munching on popcorn. This was last weekend and I'm ready to see my little one back in this shape--he has the flu bug and is as white as a sheet and weak right now. So please pray for him!

Gecko

I thought my Grady friends--especially the kids would like this. In San Angelo--they have these little tiny Geckos (not Geikos) everywhere. I have yet to get a picture of one b/c they are fast little things, but I see them almost every time I open my garage. Kyra and David think they are so cool.

Party at the Preacher's House

Rody and I had the honor of thanking several families who helped us move in by cooking them dinner. We had a great time! We truly are not deserving of the incredible churches we have and are currently serving at or the friends He has blessed us with!

Cutest Baby

Okay I know she is mine and I'm EXTREMELY partial--but how can you not love that grin?? This is her knew thing she like grits her teeth (all two of them) and makes this hilarious face! She was playing the box...cheap entertainment.

Batteries Ran Out

David is such a funny little boy and says the funniest things. The other night I was vacuuming and he wanted to help. So after 30 mins of him sucking up everything except what was on the carpet (including chasing his sisters as far as the hose would go) Rody pulled out the plug. David looked at it and said "Dad, the batteries ran out." :-)

Oh here's another one. We had some people give us homemade Banana Nut Bread--David calls it Butter Nut Bread!

You Were There

Okay I have to share this funny story on David..yesterday during reading time he decided he needed to tell Kyra and I about his dream. So he goes into this long, drawn out story about how he and Uncle Bob and Carson are camping out and there are wolves and these holes everywhere as they are walking around. (I would love to have the gift of Daniel to be able to interpret dreams and know what the holes were) Anyway, so he starts talking about Kyra and he says "And what were you doing?" And we told him we didn't know because it was his dream. So we asked "What was Kyra doing" he said "Ask her, she was there." I love that concept of in his mind she was in his dream so she must remember what was going on. Kids--I love them!!!
